Google Chrome: A Browser with a Difference

At first glance, you have to wonder where all the stuff went, particularly if you have been using IE or Firefox. You know, all those tool bars that seem to multiply and take the top two inches of your screen. Rather than becoming more complex, the folks who designed Chrome decided to go with simplicity in terms of user interface and it is refreshing. If you need to do things like check your history, there are icons that bring up menus and you can get where you need to go. But the basic functions that are visible include refresh, forward, and backward. Further, the icons are clean and clear; they are simple line drawings. Plenty of times I have to guess what an icon does in other programs but Chrome makes it easy.

Tabbed Web browsers: What’s new

Tabbed browsing is pretty much the norm these days in every browser. If your a browser without tabbed browsing you pretty much don’t exist. But are all tabbed browsing on all browser equal? Nope, Firefox has an exceptional tabbed browsing experience, but not because of all the hard work Mozilla put into it but because of the add on system Firefox has.

Back And Forth on Opera Opinion

So my first post I bashed Opera on how although it is fast, it doesnt work 100% with all the websites online. Then in my second post I said I was using Opera Happily. But now I am mad at Opera again and I stand by my initial statement that Opera does not work 100% well with a lot of websites. Although a lot of comments were made on that post disagreeing with me.

So whats my new rant with Opera? Well I am mad about it not working with a website 100% like a browser should. Well if you haven’t noticed yet on facebook, the chat feature is now live for everyone! Unfortunately it doesn’t even show up in Opera. So my initial thought was good thing Opera knows its incompatible with many sites; so I masked it as Firefox.

After masking I was happy the chat feature showed up. But after using it for a little bit I noticed it was unbelievably slow! I think tried facebook chat on Firefox and it worked flawlessly.

What I don’t Understand About Opera

Opera is Firefox’s competitor another internet browser bragging about its speed. Now don’t get me wrong, Opera is pretty fast, I may even say it could be as fast if not faster then Firefox. But Opera has one problem it doesn’t render every website right. Some things just don’t work or are a little off etc.. Lots of web 2.0 pages including Google Calendar, and Google’s Picasa Web Albums don’t fully support opera. Even gmail doesn’t yet fully work in Opera as it does in Firefox.

The worst part of this whole thing is Opera knows that it has problems rendering websites. If you right click on a page and go to site preferences you would see this:

Opera lets you pick to identify itself as any of its major competitors…Opera knows their flaw, so why won’t they fix it?
